Don't Pick Up A Paintbrush Without Some Overalls
During a new construction project, we painted an entire new house. We also painted four new shirts, a pair of sweatpants, three pairs of jeans, a sweater, eight hands and one head of hair. We learned the hard way that using painting overalls and other protective paint gear is a good idea. They may cost extra money at the start of the project, but they help save a lot on wardrobe and manicure costs in the future.
Disposable painter’s overalls are great for projects that involve difficult cleanup, such as using oil based paint. They are also a great choice for people who don’t plan to pick up a paintbrush until a decade or so after their current project.
Choosing Overalls
If you are looking for disposable overalls, you should consider a few important options. Your overalls should be made with breathable fabric. If you are painting overhead, consider looking for a pair with a hood. This handy option allows you to keep your hair from getting splattered with paint droplets as you roll the ceiling.
While they are fairly loose, these overalls still come in small, medium, large and extra large sizes so that they can fit a range of people. However, the length doesn’t vary. This isn’t a problem for shorter people, though. Some overall legs are designed so that they can simply be cut down to size. Others have elastic around the ankles and will just bunch up a bit on some people.
Investing For The Future
If you are planning to do a lot of painting projects in the future, you may want to invest in a good pair of cloth overalls. They breathe well in warm weather, but can be pulled on over other clothing to provide an entire extra layer in cool weather, which makes them a good choice for year round painting projects. Also, while they may develop permanent paint stains, they will last for many years.
Finally, don’t forget to look for other protective paint gear. Shoe covers are a great way to protect your expensive footwear and they are also a great way to be sure you don’t track paint through the house when you leave the room you are painting. You can simply pull them off and walk away with clean soles. If you have overalls with no hood, a painter’s cap allows you to keep your hair clean. Gloves protect manicures and help you avoid spending a lot of time scrubbing hands that are already dry and cracked.
