Faux Apples Add Authenticity
One thing that you should consider when you are designing your kitchen is whether or not you should just stop with wall decorations. Many people find that one of the best decorative steps that they can take is to add other objects to their design. For instance, if you want to make your kitchen look fairly traditional, you should consider putting out fruit.
Real fruit, however, has the disadvantage of being eaten or rotting – either of which will ruin your decoration. Therefore, you should consider exact decorative faux apples or other faux fruit. These fruit pieces will be made out of wax or other materials and are designed to look as much like real fruit as is possible.
Creating Faux Fruit
There are a few options when you are thinking about adding faux fruit to your room. One thing that you can do if you don’t want to spend a lot of time on that particular part of your decoration is to just look for some faux fruit that has already been arranged in a basket. There are several companies that make some great fake fruit baskets that will look good on your counter, or even as a centerpiece on your kitchen table.
However, if you want to be a little more involved in your decorations than that, you can also make your own faux fruit or faux apple basket. In order to do this, you will need to shop for the parts to put in it – but that is not very difficult to do as long as you live near a craft store of any type. Additionally, if you can’t find the right types of decoration for you, then you can also check online to see if you can find something that will work for you.
Most people choose fruit that will contrast with each other. This will cause an interesting piece to look at. Therefore, you might consider green apples paired with oranges or yellow bananas to get the contrastive aspect. On the other hand, if you have rich burgundy or reddish design element in the room already, you might look into getting dark red faux apples and other fruit of that particular color scheme.
Good Ideas
Other good ideas include adding other parts to the basket that are not necessarily fruit. For instance, some people find that adding dark green faux ivy to a basket that is full of dark red apples looks fairly elegant.
If you enjoy putting your own faux fruit baskets together, then you can put together a new basket for each season! The great thing about these baskets is that since the fruit itself will not rot, there is no reason to put together a new basket each year (unless, of course, you want to!) Just put your faux basket away until the season returns.
You can get some ideas regarding ways to put together baskets of faux fruit by checking online or in craft stores. Most of the craft stores will also sell magazines that often have lots of craft ideas in them. The most important thing to remember, however, is that the best decorations for your home will be created when you feel free to experiment with the decorative elements you have to work with.
